First serodetection and molecular phylogenetic documentation of Coxiella burnetii isolates from female camels in Wasit governorate, Iraq

This study aims to detect Coxiella burnetii in one-humped female camels (Camelus dromedarius) using ELISA and confirmation of infection by PCR with the phylogenetic analysis local isolates. The 91 adult were selected for clinical examination blood sampling from different areas Badra Al-Numaniyah districts Wasit governorate, Iraq, February April 2019. prevalence Coxiella(C.) was 19.8% 4.4% PCR, respectively. Targeting 16S rRNA genes three positive samples documented Genbank-NCBI under accession numbers MN900579.1, MN900580.1, MN900581.1. Clinical evaluation revealed insignificant variation temperature, pulse, respiratory rates, lymph node enlargement among negative animals. findings also showed that regions have signs. compared other regions, increased significantly March. In conclusion, our confirmed C. burneth Iraqi camels, suggesting these animals might be a source pathogen humans animal species. Therefore, further studies are necessary provide more detailed data about burnetiito improve effective control measures.
